NELFUND: Every Nigerian student can apply without knowing anyone, says Sawyerr

Every Nigerian student admitted into an eligible tertiary institution in the country can apply for loan from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) without having to know or contact anybody within the organisation or anywhere, the Fund has emphasised.

The clarification is coming amid concerns among students and prospective beneficiaries about the requirements and processes for accessing the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.

According to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, the application process is designed to be accessible to eligible students, with applicants required to provide basic identification and academic information rather than relying on personal connections or influential individuals to access the scheme. For students seeking to apply, the essential requirements include a National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), JAMB Registration Number, and Matriculation Number or Admission Number, depending on the institution and the status of the applicant.
